:)Thank you to everyone for their help and research you have made a small dead twig on our family tree blossom into life in just a few days. If any one does know what has happened to the missing children from the first marriage, I would love to know, but
I now know who the James Family were and that Irene Place still exists.

William's death certificate would give you information on his children ie who was living and who was deceased. 

There are so many JAMES on the Vic indexes but going by the place of birth this may be Lucy and the names of the children include her grandfather's name Jephat.

Hi,
The National Archives hold a digitised ww1 service record for Harry JEPET (sic) Dawbarn [ there are a few different spelling attempts at the second given name]
He enlisted in 1916 saying he was 36? and a pastrycook
As Next of Kin he gives his sister LILY GREENWOOD who lives at Izzett Street Prahran.
The name  is then crossed out & replaced with HARRY Dawbarn.

As one living locally, I am struck by the proximity of many of the revealed addresses, to 150 Williams Road and to the other real estate  held at  his death by William James, including Motherwell Street.

Harry's sister Lily Greenwood maybe the eldest surviving sibling,Frances Lelia. I have asked my father about the name Dawbarn and he hasn't any recollection of hearing it, so it looks like this is another new twig for our tree.
