How would I contact the Carlisle record office? Is there an email address?

Thank-you,
Denise

As Andrea said, some of the baptism entries also show the age of birth.  The family I found ranged from nearly birth to seven years old.  They must have had a special offer on at the church :)

Hi,
I wrote to cumbria.gov.uk and just received a reply. They suggested that Kingmoor would be the most likely place for the wedding of Mary Bell and John Foster. Also the only birth record they would have would be for Hannah Foster as civil registration of nirths, marriages and deaths was not introduced in England until 1 July 1837. Getting a birth record on Hannah would probably only tell me her parents names which I already have, and from what this forum has informed me, getting a marriage record for Mary Bell and john Foster would not give me their parents names. The cumbria.gov.uk answer was that I should take advantage of their Historical research Service at about $44. US dollars per hour. Does anyone have experience with this service, and what may they find that I already can't online? I'm beginning to think a flight to England would be cheaper...  ;D  Any thoughts???

Best Regards,
Denise

Do you have an LDS family history centre near you?   They are worldwide and listed  on familysearch.   You can order the film of any parish register and search it at your leisure.   Cheaper than a flight!     We do have some rootschatters who live near Carlisle and may go to look for you too but looking yourself means you can find all the little snippets about the family that make it so much more interesting.

Kingmoor was not a part of any parish, so it is unlikely that there would have been a marriage there http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/CUL/Kingmoor/index.html

Hi Carole,
Yes, I saw the post from Geoff about Kingmoor. Wonder why the Cumbria research center thinks differently? I wrote back to them but haven't gotten another reply.

Thank-you,
Denise

Hi Andrea and Suburu,
I'll check with the LDS in Saginaw, Michigan (about 50 miles from me) and see about ordering film from Carlisle. Just wish everything wasn't on microfiche!   :'(  Hopefully there will be birth records attached on the christenings. Thank-you. You've all been very helpful on this site and I'm sure you will hear much more from me.

Regards,
Denise
