Mackey - bros. William, John, James & Joseph
« on: Wednesday 01 July 09 04:18 BST (UK) »
Hello All:
We believe our g-gf was from IOM, but we have not been able to confirm this. We do know there were four brothers - William, John, James & Joseph.
William ended up in Belfast, but we have no information on the other 3 brothers.
I did find a baptism record for a William Mackie in Ramsay but have no idea if that's our William.

Descendants of Unknown Mackey

   1     Unknown Mackey
......   2     William Mackey   1835 -
..........      +Margaret Ann Newell
......   2     John Mackey   1830 -
..........      +Mary
......   2     James Mackey
......   2     Joseph Mackey

As you can see we have very little information.  If anyone feels up for a challenge, we would greatly appreciate any information.

Thanks in advance,
Deb

On the 1911 census, William stated that he was born on Isle of Man...but I still can't find any records to verify this.  Is there an office of records on IoM that I can contact to get information?

http://www.manxnotebookcom/famhist/genealgy/index.htm will explain what records are available - no compulsory reg until 1877
you could try http://www.isle-of-man.com/cgi-bin/interests/genealogy/bulletin/index.pl?noframes; to see if anyone there recognises them -
the marriage of wm should give his father's name
