Looking for related family.

The head of this family worked for several Gaols in Victoria as Turnkey and Governor. His descendants worked as a teacher in Cobram, a newspaper manager in Cobram, and farmer? in Corryong.

Would love to hear from related families either on this board or privately.
Evans: Gwaenynog, Llanfair Caereinion, Montgomery, Wales (1700s); Rock, Worcester & Kidderminster WOR, Cirencester GLS, Aston, Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Perry Barr, and Handsworth.

Seeking descendants and related families for genealogy purposes.

Is that not what this website is for?

Hi NedraE,

It is fine to post looking for connections if that is what you wish to do. This board is the Australia Board - It is not just a request board, so looking for connections is fine. Be sure to add your names to the Surname Interest Table if you have not already done so.

http://surname.rootschat.com/

It is the best place to see if any members have listed an interest and to alert others looking of your interests. I do hope you make some connections. If there is anything you need help with, please post a request and we will be happy do our best to assist.

All the best............Kris  :)

Hi
I'd suggest that you contact the Gaols if your ancestor worked there especially as a Governor.  If he was at Geelong for example they have quite good records on their staff and can probably help you.  The smaller gaols records would be lodged with the State Records but often other Gaols are able to help since staff moved between the Gaols.
Regards
Deanne
