Peter Hughes and Mary Woolcock - Holywell
« on: Saturday 04 July 09 11:49 BST (UK) »
Peter Hughes and Mary Woolcock are my GGG Grand parents Their first 2 children Ann and Robert were born in Greenfield, Holywell, Flintshire, Wales Ann in 1844 and Robert in 1846. All their other children were born in Swansea including my GG Grandfather Daniel Hughes.
Mary Woolcock was born in Merthyr 1820 and Peter was born in Greenfield, Holywell, Flintshire, Wales aboutt 1815.
I have looked for a marriage between them and the nearest I can find is a marriage between Peter Hughes and Mary Woodcock in Holywell 1842. I went back to our local Registry Office in Swansea for them to check if the name on My GG Grandfathers Birth cert is Woolcock and not Woodcock and they rechecked and said it is without doubt Woolcock.
Would some be kind enough to check for me, I would like to find out Peters parents names and if he had any brothers or sisters

Thank you in advance Alan Hughes

Hi Alan, I had a look on N.W.B.M.D and found it was a civil marriage so I can't check for you :(
I'll see if I can find anything in the baptism records for you.

Paul.

I got the birth cert of Daniels' brother William born 1848 Swansea and the Mothers name is the same as my GG Grandfathers' Daniel, MARY WOOLCOCK
At least now I know for certain my GGG Grandmothers name LOL
I shall be sending for Peter Hughes and Mary Woolcocks' Marriage certificate later today

I phoned Holywell and ordered the Marriage cert of Peter Hughes and Mary Woodcock (There is no marriage for a Woolcock) Mary did not sign she made a mark so I suppose there is a chance there was an error
Fathers name is Robert, I know my GG Grandfather had abrother Robert
Marriage is in the right place
And around the right time
Can I assume I have the right marriage based on what I have? If not what else can I do.

I am going to phone Holywell again tomorow and order the birth certs of the 2 children born in Greenfild, Holywell and see if Mother is Woolcock like the Swansea births

I don't believe it! No record of Ann Hughes born 1844 Greenfield, Holywell or her brother Robert Hughes born 1846. Parents Peter Hughes and Mary.
If anyone visiting the Parish records would they be so kind as to have a quick look for me

Alan

Hi Alan, no wonder there's no record for Ann in 1844 :( she was baptised May 12 1843 :) the Daughter of Peter & Mary Hughes of Greenfield. Peter is a Copper Roller.
I couldn't see a baptism for Robert :(

Could this be Peters baptism?
Holywell May 15 1814. Peter Hughes s/o ROBERT & Jane. of Greenfield. Robert is a Copper Smith. You should know when you receive his marriage cert :)

Paul.

Hi Paul
Thank you for you efforts, I really appreciate it.

I recieved the marriage cert this morning Robert was a Forgeman
They were married in Rehoboth Chapel, Whitford St. according to the rights and cerremonies of the Calvinistic methodists.
In the presence of Hugh Hughes and Elizabeth Owens
I wonder if Hugh was Peters brother

Alan
