french ancestors
« on: Saturday 26 February 05 11:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi, Can anyone give me ideas on how to search for a relative that is said to have come from france?
My great grandmother was said to be French, however on the 1901 census her birthplace is stated as Cambs. I have searched extensively for her birth record for this country, but have come up with no positive results, so I am thinking that maybe she was French and would like to try and research this area now.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Jackie

Hello Gibonee

It may that she was French, or it was her parents that were French. I have found people were enumerated in Census information as born in the UK when infact they were born abroad. Which does not help the researcher!   :-\
