Hi Joe,

Welcome to RootsChat,

I presume that you have the 1861 census at 85 Rose Place, Liverpool (sharing a house with William and Mary A. Edwards and family) that fits your description of Laurence and Catherine but there are no children with them.

RG9:2650:F111:P49

[Oops sorry, wrong ref, I think it should be RG9:2650:F111:P1, page number was missing so I calculated from prev. page but later numbers suggest a new book started here]
McDonough, Oliver, McLoughlin, O'Brien, Cuthbert, Keegan, Quirk(e), O'Malley, McGuirk (Ireland)
Dudley, Winchurch, Wolverson, Brookes (Black Country)
Concannon, Moore, Markowski (Markesky), Mottram, Lawton (Black Country)

If the 1871 is the one in Manchester, still no evidence of any children.

There were at least three or four Laurence and Catherine Byrnes having children in Dublin in the 1860s (if you look at the IGI on the FamilySearch site), so what makes you think that this couple are the parents of your Catherine?

Do you have any other documents that link one or other of these census addresses to the daughter?

Thanks Dudley! Catherine the mother (misspelt in the 1881 Census as Catherine Burns)
is living with the family. From this I deducted her birth year, researched previous English Censuses and only one matches the birthdate and she just happened to be with Laurence Byrne. It has however troubled me that I have only one child, which struck me as strange for an irish couple of that period.
It now looks that we have a possible marriage 1n 1842 so there could have been more children before the daughter Catherine born in 1849.
Your opinions and comments are valued. I am open to any alternative. Thanks Joe

Sorry Joe,

I was just trying to work out the process by which your Catherine would belong to the apparently childless couple, Laurence and Catherine Byrne, but I was obviously missing some steps.

So I take it that the Catherine, born 1849, that we are looking for is Catherine Walker (nee Byrne) and that you have her marriage cert. showing that her father is Laurence Byrne, a tailor.

From the 1881, the mother is Catherine, born about 1823 in Ireland.

Is this correct?
McDonough, Oliver, McLoughlin, O'Brien, Cuthbert, Keegan, Quirk(e), O'Malley, McGuirk (Ireland)
Dudley, Winchurch, Wolverson, Brookes (Black Country)
Concannon, Moore, Markowski (Markesky), Mottram, Lawton (Black Country)

Dudley, All that is correct.
So far  I have used 1822 as Catherine's birth year.
I also checked all of the other Lawrence and Laurence Byrnes in the Liverpool area
and none were married to a Catherine.
The 1811 Laurence and the 1822 Catherine were the only ones who fitted my search.
If Catherine was Catherine Moore she would have been about 20 years when she married in Dublin 1842, which also looks promising!

What chances are there of finding Catherine Moores birth year and of finding any of their possible children born 1842-1849? Catherine Byrne my Great Grandmother was also born in Dublin c1849.
Do   you know anything of St.Andrews Church in Dublin?
Your kind interest in my searcg is most appreciated. Regards from San Antonio, Joseph Walker
