What is his uniform circa 1890

I think this photograph was taken in Plymouth about 1890. Please can anyone identify the uniform?

Could be Royal Marine Artillery. They had blue tunics with red collars and cuffs, and grenade collar badges.

I aggree with some Artillery unit RMA is a possibility.....The RM Service records are online at the NA Docs online site now...do you have a name?

Thanks for this suggestion. I have looked at picture of RM artillery uniform of period and agree it looks a possibility. Belt, buckle and jacklet style and buttons look right. NOt sure about collar.
I am looking for  William Henry Pearse born 1867. There is a Robert William Pearse at documents online site but don think this is the one. HOwever it has given me something to work on. I cannot find him in 1891 census so he may have been posted abroad. So I will look for other lcues as to what he was doing then
Interestingly while looking at doucments online I did find one of his soms world war one service records.

If he received a pension for his service he would have received a naval pension if he was RMA, and an army pension if he was army RA. Have you found him in later census?
