Mary Kate Mantell of Cork
« on: Monday 06 July 09 14:43 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know of Mary Kate Mantell, daughter of John James Cassedy and his wife Arabella, she married John Thomas Mantell in 1895 in Bantry.  I believe she lived in Cork with her mother prior to her marriage.  I think she may have travelled to America/Canada between about 1911 and 1915.

Hello AMCass,
welcome to rootschat.
It would be better to say what you are searching for so that you don't get things you already know or that are not much use  :D

For example, on here: http://www.curiousfox.com/history_Ire/cork_9.html
someone is searching for this family and states that Arabella was Webb nee Kelly.

Whilst Family Search has the birth or christening of Mary Kate- mother Arabella Kelly.

You can get birth and marriage certificates here: http://www.groireland.ie/

1911 census for Ireland is now online for Cork but I can't see these families:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Here's a descendant of Mary Kate's brother with more information about the family:

and

I hope this helps rather than repeats what you already know  ;)

best wishes
heywood

Thanks very much for your advice.  The links to people with queries are myself, this family is very hard to find.  What I would really like to know is if Mary Kate did go to either America or Canada and if she had any children.  I found her birth and marriage in the records office in Dublin but didn't have time to keep searching for children.  I believe she died in the late 1940's or early 1950's.

Have you posted on the USA board then- you would hopefully get someone who could look her up in USA censuses.

Thanks for that, I hadn't thought about trying the USA & Canada census as I wasn't sure if she would be there in time for it but it may be worth a try.
