Dingwall burials
« on: Tuesday 07 July 09 12:11 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the burial place of Henry Cockburn who died 16.10.1959.   At the time of his death, he was living in Dingwall and I guess he was probably buried there.

Could anyone out there help me with this one?  I'd be very grateful for any help

claire

Hi Claire,

Couldn't find a Henry Cockburn buried in Dingwall, but could he be related to a William Cockburn? There's a William Cockburn who died 1956, age 78, and is buried in Dingwall. You can go to:

http://www.freewebs.com/boogiechick/

There, in the guestbook, ask for MH 167 and they will send you inscription and photo of the headstone (MH 167 is their code for William Cockburn's headstone in Mitchell Hill, Dingwall).

Best luck,

Hi Francisco

Thanks for taking the time to look for me, I greatly appreciate the effort.

Unfortunately, William Cockburn is no relation to my Henry (as far as I know, and I have this side of my family fairly well documented, thanks to SP).

I suppose it is also a possibility that he was cremated, and there probably wouldn't be a headstone in that case.

Thanks again for your time

Claire
