Hello, Could anyone tell me which cemetary my husbands GGrandfather is likely to be buried. He died in Rochester St Walker in 1923, his religion was R.C, We would love to visit his grave but have no idea as to it's whereabouts. Also where could we find out the location of his grave, perhaps the address of the record office we could write to. Many thanks Caroleoh

C.oh

What was the date of death ?

The Newcastle "Evening Chronicle" might well have published the death notice, detaing where interred.

Tyne & Wear Archives ( www.tyneandweararchives.org.uk  ) User Guide No.1 has details of cemeteries etc in area.

Carole,  Looked in the editions of Evening Chronicle from 15th June to 21st, No sign of death notice for Michael O'Hare.

Next time at Newcastle Library I will browse the relevant Newcastle Journals.

Hi Mike, Thanks for looking up the death notices for me, i have been doing a bit of digging myself, i contacted Newcastle register office, but was informed they only kept certain records she gave me another address to contact which i will do when i get round to it, the lady at the record office said with him being Rc he would have probably been buried in either Byker  or Walker cemetary, but i would be very grateful if you would look up Burials when you visit the library.Kind Regards caroleoh

Carole - New to all this so please bear with me.

really responding to this after a note in the Newcastle Evening Chronicle lead to me doing some Googling and came upon these posts.

I presume from the note in the Chronicle and your posts here plus your username that this was from yourself.

I will enlighten you further on this (why it aroused my interest) at a later date.

Just quickly for tonight - I would think your best bet as to finding where Michael O'Hare is buried will be the church records at St Anthonys of Padua (built 1860)
http://www.stapca.co.uk/contacts.html

I would think the grave will be in Walker Cemetery.

I have looked at your other posts relating to O'Hare and noted Bill Point - this was in fact in Walker not Longbenton - so ties in with Rochester Street which is a 1/4 of a mile from the River Tyne.

On another of your posts - Rochester Street does still exist - but was redeveloped in the 1960's - it is on Streetview on Google.
