A birth for a William Scott in Penninghame for 1874 suggests that Helen's maiden name was Wilson. They married 2nd July 1867 at Penninghame and also had John (b. 1867), Jane (b. 1870) and Ellen (b. 1872).

Jane is the daughter of Elizabeth Scott in this family
