1861 look up for HMS ?

I have been looking for Sampson HARRIS on the 1861 census but can find no trace of him.  He was a chief engineer in the Royal Navy.  He was born in approx 1808 and died in service on HMS Indus in 1866, so he must be out there somewhere!  Although I have a copy of his officers record there is no birthplace given and without this I am stuck.  I would be very grateful for any help.

He and his family were living in Parish of St Andrew, borough of Plymouth, Devon.
