the electoral number is just used by Dublin City council on the register of voters - I dont think you can use it to link to anything else.

Do you know when Nicholas died ?

also do you know if Matthew was born in Dublin or Wexford ?

To be honest, i don't know much about Nicholas, only he came from Wexford married a lady named Jane and lived on ravensdale rd, Dublin 3 until he died, and he had 2 children Patrick and Matthew, thats it really!

Seanmac, do you think that info is accurate?

possible clue from 1949 (Thoms)

no. 7 Ravensdale Rd is listed as M. Murphy

so maybe Nicholas died between 1939 and 1949..

sorry that's Thom's Directory of Dublin - its a street directory. It lists businesses and many heads of households.

unfortunately Irish death or marriage certs dont really help with locating a birth,  other than by providing an approximate year of birth and fathers name.

Well going by Matthew the date he died and the age on his death cert, i make it to be 1916 dob, even if i could get his birth cert, id get his mothers maiden name?

could that work?

it would do it .. just be careful as age at deaths are not always exact, as the person providing the information (listed as the informant on the cert) may not know the full details.

to check for possible births see the familysearch civil index mentioned earlier.
As Dara mentioned there are not that many listed in Dublin, but is it possible that Matthew was born in Wexford ?

you may have to order a few possible certs for Matthew and see if you get a match of the details - i.e. father and mothers names

I had a very quick scan though the Nicholas Murphy's on the 1911 census in Wexford and Dublin, and did not see any married to a Jane.. so maybe they married after 1911
