There are instructions at that link on how to order a copy of his military file. The cost depends on the size of the file.

It looks likes George arrived in Canada a few months before his family. I found him on the Lake Erie which arrived in Saint John, New Brunswick on 14 Mar 1909. Here's a link to the passenger list at LAC:
