Chris,
I agree with your remarks - probably met on the voyage to Australia.

Just adding this to what Judith has already posted - re Thetis.

Disposal list - THETIS - page 35
TREVENA William - age 25 - single - went to Melbourne.

NSW Assisted Immigration List (Ancestry)
TREVENA William - age 25 - single - farm lab -  St Gluvias Cornwall - Church of England - read & write.

There seems to be some pages missing for Thetis - usually there is also the Nominal List - however I could not find any at the Library.

Also could not find the page where the birth & deaths were recorded, for the voyage.

Sarra

Thanks Cando,Judith and Sarra for the help.  My Mary Trevena could have come to Australia as Mary Travine in 1849 on the Duchess of Northumberland.
Since she could not write, it is possible that her name was mispelt on
the passenger list as Travine or maybe it was mispelt as Trevena on her Marriage registion.

On IGI is the marriage of Joseph TREVENA (father Simon TREVENA) to Mary TREVENA at St Gluvias, 1 October 1848.  This fits with a marriage reg Truro Dec qr 1848 also with Joseph Trevena and Mary TREVENA on the same page (FreeBMD).  So it looks as though the wife who died on board Thetis may well have been Mary TREVENA.

FreeBMD has NO records with surname Travine - but, as you say it could easliy be incorrect spelling.
