Hi Mellie, Jean Nicol was a sister to my ancestor Christian Nicol. Her parents were James Nicol and Elizabeth Kelman. I am really stuck as well as I cannot find any details of their deaths. I was hoping that some of the Peterkin family who Jean married into might have some information.
Jeans full name was Jean Henry and she was born 5th January 1827

I found the website address for Aberdeenshire families here it is www.phlomis.plus.com/index.htm
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

If you go there and click through the links, guess what? You end up at the ****** Ancestry paywall. This is one of the main reasons I despise Ancestry - because over the years there have been literally dozens of similar web sites that don't sound or look like Ancestry but when you get there, surprise, surprise, it's yet another attempt by Ancestry to hoodwink you into coughing up. And when you do cough up, they don't have the original records for Scotland after all.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
