Still on this quest, :) :)

please would someone see if they can find . on the 1891 census,

John Irons , father .

William John Irons , son , born 1883 . so aged about 8 yrs .

Eilleen.

The best way to find out is to look at the 1911 census and see where he was born.

You've probably got this already...

Winterton Cemetery inscriptions:
William John IRONS, died 30 April 1971, aged 88
+ son, Frank IRONS, died 4 January 1976, aged 65

Eilleen

I've just tapped this in the 1911 census index:
John IRONS, born 1883, birthplace Staffordshire

It came up as a match for John IRONS, born 1883, aged 28, residing in Glanford Brigg district.

1891 census has quite a few IRONS born in Walsall, so I put this into the 1911 census and it came up with John IRONS in Glanford Brigg as a match.

The nearest I can find in FreeBMD births index is March quarter 1883
William John HIRONS, Walsall district, Vol 6b, page 720

1971 death index gives William John IRONS date of birth as 16 November 1882.

Hi Hilda Irons was my Aunt and Alice Mary was my Grandmother, my mother was part of her second family, but she was not married to my Grandfather. I used to stay with my Aunt when I was very small on their farm near Lincoln.
