Hello
I had a little brainwave last night and I want to see if i'm wrong or not.
Cut a long story short... My great-grandfather came to England from Ireland and because of this and some dodgy census transcribing i've had to wait till seeing the 1911 census to get an exact place of birth for him in Ireland. This is now known to me as Milltown, County Galway...
...Anyhow's i've never needed to look at records for Immigrants or Emigrants on any branch of my family, a side the above Ireland movement, the family on both sides is as English as can be (I'm sure if it were possible, I'd find them looking with fear as a legion of Romans came through their village 2000 years ago!)
So I could do with a little help, because different decendants of the family say where as PATRICK LOUGHLIN (Thats my g-grandfather by the way) came to England a brother THOMAS LOUGHLIN moved to the USA.
I've never taken it up because all I have is that name, I don't know when and till very recently I didn't even know where the family were from in Ireland.
And then it hit me, What IF records for people entering the USA include place of birth! - Well if I could find a Thomas Loughlin from Milltown in Ireland, then i'd be on to a winner.
Please tell me this information is in the records. I ask this because of course if it is not, then there is no point paying to access the records.
Thankyou
Jonathan
