You can search the 1881 and 1891 census by name and view the images at Library and Archives Canada. Here are the links:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/census-1881/index-e.html
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/census-1891/index-e.html

On the 1891 census the family is listed as Dora (father as Severil) and are in Leeds South. On the 1881 census they are listed as Dorey (father as Severe) and are in Addington (starts on line 9 of the bottom image).

Percy's DOB is april 29 1893 and he died in Nov. of 1972. Found this on the only picture I have of him with my mom and me as a baby. I'm not sure what he did for his occupation

Hi Brandy:
That should confirm that he was the son of Sevare/Severe Dorey.  (As found on the 1901 Ontario Census.)

Someone on RootsWeb has Percy in their tree (I don't know how accurate the information is):

Search for Dorey and Percival

If you are living in Canada, perhaps you might be able to obtain an actual image of a story about Percy's father from your local library or LDS Centre?
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~onleedsg/docs/gr_bmd_1936_1949.htm
Search for Severe
Apparently, there was a story about him in 1948.

The newspaper staff might be able to tell you where/how you could view the 1948 story.

You could try writing to the library to see if they can recommend how you might view the 1948 story.  (Perhaps it was an obituary?)

ok after a short road trip, my cousin and I are both stuck. Neither of us can seem to get any further than Frank sr. She's gone through all the paperwork and photos we could find on our family.  Neither of us can figure out who Frank sr.'s father was or his mother.
