Thanks

If you know the cemetery then the easiest and best you can do is to contact them directly as they will have the details of where they are buried.

Sue

Be prepared for the cemetery authorities to charge quite a hefty fee for the information!  My local cemetery charges around £20.  I found that the Local Studies department at the library had the same information for the cost of a photocopy and postage.

ok thank you.
If I can find the time I might just go over (I'm not far away) and have a look. I really wondered if I went on a week day if someone would help me there and then. I sort of wondered if they keep a list!!

Hi Sue,

I'm a volunteer with an historic (still working) cemetery and I think it would be best if you contacted the cemetery before going along as they may not have enough staff/volunteers available at short notice to help you locate the grave.  As Gillg says though, it's well worth checking with the local archives as they might have copies of the cemetery's records - and possibly even a map of the grave plots.

Best of luck,

Marion

I don't know about Birmingham, but most council cemeteries have burials on film.So the main Library in Birmingham has a reference room and should be there,If you need to look on film for the burial. You need to know the year, not exact but 1930.40's and religion. So if you can get to the library it will only cost about £1.60 (machine & print)

So I agree with Gill

Thank you both and everyone for all the help.
It really is amazing how much help I've had from this site.
I will go into the big library in Brum and have a mooch!
