Thomas Williams - Stickney
« on: Saturday 18 July 09 19:10 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have come across a Rebecca Williams buried in Stickney 26/4/1859 and her parents are given as Thomas and Prudence.

I can't find a marriage for Thomas and Prudence or them on the 1861 census.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi Angie,

The only Williams family in Stickney are Thomas and Desdemony, reference RG9/2372 10 14

The IGI shows a christening for a Rebecca Teasdale Williams on 12th April 1859 at Lincoln, parents Thomas and Desdemona.

I wonder if Prudence's name is a mistake, or if she was known by 2 different names?

I think you'll find that Prudence became Mrs LEWIS (wife of Robert)

27 Jan 1839 at Sibsey
Thomas WILLIAMS (son of William TEASDEL) to Desdemona DIXON (dau of Joseph)

Thank you, it looks like the Prudence was a mistake and it should be Thomas and Desdemona.

This is a rather odd IGI batch C031793 ... although labelled Lincoln they seem to all be from Stickney ... and all girls!
