can't find reference to G.dads birth help please

Sarah Pugsley. Married Richard Purchase Haggett. 1891. Newport Mon .

A son born 1892/3 also Richard Purchase Haggett. So why can't I find his birth Cert?
I thought everyone had to by law register a birth. Can anyone help here.

The "1891" marriage appears in the Jun qtr of 1892!!

Presumably you mean you haven't found a birth ref for Richard jnr, it may be mistranscribed, be missing from the GRO index for some reason or he may not have been registered.

In a case like this it's always worth contacting the local (to the event) registrars for a search of the original register. It wouldn't be thre first time a GRO entry was missing or mistranscribed and the local registrars hold the only available copy of a document.

I take it the Richard Purchase Haggett marriage in Stroud in 1906 is his second??  It's a huge coincidence of names if it isn't.

Have you found them on the 1901 census?  I cannot see them in England or wales

Thank you for trying. I did pop along sometime ago to the registras office. Sadly they didn't respond to my request. I just thought there maybe another method of tracing his birth.

Yes. G.Grandad did marry again. Then emigrated to Australia. Leaving son/ex-wife to et on with it.

I did have a peep just to see if he was born just prior to the marriage and registered as Pugsley, it doesn't appear to be the case (nothing appears for the surname just prior to the marriage).

I would ahve another bash at the local registrar, i have used dozens around the country and all have been helpful, though some are better than others.
