Anyone with Herlihy in Kenmare
« on: Thursday 23 July 09 09:35 BST (UK) »
I have been sent the birth/Bapt records for the children of William and Sara Herlihy. These are from the Presbytery of Kenmare and are in the Dromore district.
5 children 1858-1872.
There is a connection somewhere to my rellies the Mara family, but I've yet to join the dots  :-\

Thanks Brendan
I knew about Sarah  :D it's the proving that she is the sister of my gg/grandfather John that's causing the problem.
They all seem to have been in the Dromore/ Templenoe area of Kenmare.
Gg/grandfather John Mara is mention on the Griffiths Valuation in Cappanacush East renting 17 acres. There are also Timothy, Jeremiah and Patrick Meara/ Mara mentioned...gotta be related somehow  :-\

My old mum remembered her mum talking about the Herlihy connection, but that's as far as it goes.

I just thought the baptism records for these children might be useful to someone.

Thanks again Brendan
There are a couple of interesting ones there.  ;D
At this stage I'm waiting for the 1901 census to come online as there are 1 or 2 John Maras of interest on the 1911 that I'd like to check out.

I did send for a John Mara death cert in Killarney, thinking he may have moved in retirement, but it turned out to be someone far too young...drats

Hi Sylvia,

According to the National Library all 1901 census should be online before the end of the year.
