Thanks to you both for all this information.

Is there anything else on Ann Parsons (Briggs)?
I've been looking for her and Joseph on Ancestry in the Census records, and there seems to be nothing there for 1841, 1851 and 1861. I had found her in the 1871 Census.

Her husband's name was Richard, not Joseph. Perhaps that's why you couldn't see them?

Richard and Ann (on Ancestry as Ana) Briggs are living in Stanground in 1861 RG9 965 folio 31 page 14

In 1851 Richard and 3 children are in Stanground mistranscribed as Bergs HO107 1747 folio 253 page 8. I can't find Ann

In 1841 the family is in Standground enumerated as Brigs HO107 452 20 folio 29 page 4

Good find Woody! I think it's actually enumerated as Briggs, despite what Ancestry have done to it. I was only looking in Hunts, forgetting that Stanground was on the border with Peterborough Northants

Her occupation is shown as brickmaker's wife, and that matches with Richard's occupation which was brickmaker

In a previous post I mentioned that I could find little on Ann and Joseph. The Joseph I meant, was Ann's brother Joseph. I did know that Ann's husband was Richard.

Where can I find access to all the records you've unearthed? Are they simply from the Census records that you have? Can I obtain these?

Luckily most of my early ancestors were born, married and buried in Bucks, and the Bucks FHS have made life quite easy for me by providing extensive lists of all transcribed Births, Marriages and Burials. As you will know, in the Peterborough area things aren't quite that simple as there are so many county borders. I haven't as yet got my head around which town or village was in which county in which period of history.

When did Huntingdonshire cease to be? Is Stanground now in Cambridgeshire?

I'm still looking for info on Thomas and Mary Parsons, parents of Ann, Joseph and Abraham. I would like to find out if they had any other children. Just three children in those days seems a bit mean!

Thanks again for all your help.

Other sources were Hunts Marriage Index available on fiche from Hunts Family History Society, and the National Burial Index which you can access at the pay per view site http://www.findmypast.com/parish-records-collection-search-start.action?redef=0&event=D

Hunts was merged with Cambs in 1974

Neither Hunts nor Northants is particularly easy to research as the LDS was refused permission to film many parish registers, so they're not on the IGI or BVRI
