Goss's in Bedford.
« on: Monday 28 February 05 12:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me in my quest to discover may ancestors.

I'm searching for the Goss family,  all I know is John Goss married Mary Marshal(l) on 11/10/1800 at St. Paul, Bedford. (I believe this is the correct marriage and spouse but am not 100% certain) Their 1st two children Ann (b 23/8/1801, ch 11/10/1801) and Mary Ann (ch 13/2/1805) were born in St. Paul, Bedford.  The other 6 children were born in Sandon, Herts between 1807 and 1817.

Any info on any of these people would be fantastic.

Thank you in anticipation

There are several John GOSS he could be - if you can find them on a census...that might narrow it down.

Or if you can find his death [PR or cert] that will give his aprrox date of birth?
Bedfordshire: Worker [Flitton]; Ames [Kempston]; Manton [Kempston]; Morris [?]; Valentine [Kempston]; Two & Osborn [Cranfield]

Herfordshire and West London: Brown [Kent in early 19th C]; Blackwell.
McCarthy [Clonakilty, County Cork - searching for needles in the haystack!] and LOSTY [Dublin]

Hi Cathy,

Thank you for your advice.....this is John and Mary on the 1851 census

Church End, Sandon
John Goss head married 77 blacksmith master employing 2 men born Hackney (I think), Middlesex
Mary Goss wife 77 born Sandy Beds
Thomas Goss son unmarr 37 employed at home b Sandon

Having just re-read that 1851 info I'm guessing that I am right with Mary Marshall as she is the only one who fits....also I have just realised that John was possibly born in HACKNEY, MIDDLESEX so I guees I've posted this in the wrong county!!

Any info on Mary would be great though....

Thank you again

Love

Sandy is in Bedfordshire...

Mary MARSHALL appears to be christened in Sandy to Jerimiah & Eliz or Ann MARSHALL [17th Feb 1777].  An early daughter was christened to them in 1774

Bedfordshire: Worker [Flitton]; Ames [Kempston]; Manton [Kempston]; Morris [?]; Valentine [Kempston]; Two & Osborn [Cranfield]

Herfordshire and West London: Brown [Kent in early 19th C]; Blackwell.
McCarthy [Clonakilty, County Cork - searching for needles in the haystack!] and LOSTY [Dublin]

Hi Cathy

Thank you for all those batch numbers - there are hundreds of Marshall's!  Also found lots of Goss's too.

Just need to figure out who belongs to who now!

Thanks again
