McCauley (McAuley), MacAulay, Co. Antrim
« on: Monday 27 July 09 03:50 BST (UK) »
I have been doing research on the Macaulay family for a number of  years.
I am especially interested in the members of this family who had
their roots in Renfrewshire, Scotland and who claim descent from the
Macaulays of Ardincaple.

Unfortunately, I have not yet made it to Co. Antrim so I would like to make
contact with internet savy Macaulays living there who are interested in their
ancestry.  Most of the research I have done so far can be found at
http://www.genforum.com/macaulay  However, there is much much more research that needs to be done, especially in Eire and Antrim in particular.

Thanks.

McAuley (Macauley, etc.) very common in Counties Antrim and Derry so it can be difficult to find details for the correct family.

appreciate your IMMEASURABLE help, aghadowey, but has no one documented them yet?  believe me, i know how many there were in the 1840s era as i think i must have purchased to view half of them!  was foolishly hoping a book had been published documenting the different families.  will continue searching and maintaining my good karma by sharing what i know in the hopes of someday opening an email with what i'm looking for.

your info on the multiple ballymenas is a real boost, as names follow through in larne - a place which i hadn't considered as relevant previously as the most recent individuals found were baptd kirkinriola.  actually makes some sense (or is it just wishful thinking on my part?!) as a branch of the family is found in glanravel skerry) as well.

again thx

Dear therave,

Which McAuley family are you interested in?  I may have a wee bit of information that I have not gotten around to posting yet on genforum, although I am doing my best.  Let me know whom you are looking for.

I have done a little reserach into the McAuley family of Caddy Randalstown. Nancy (Agnes) Ewing of Coolsytghe married William McAuley in 1847. Nancy was the sister of my 3 x gt
grandmother Eliza Ewing. Nancy's daughter Margaret mcAuley married her cousin William John Henry, son of Eliza Henry nee Ewing and brother of my gt-gt-grandmother.

The McAuley's were buried in Drummaul cemetary. Transciption of the tombstone reads:
To The Memory Of

William J McAuley   Caddy
Who died 29th October 1894
aged 70 years
Also his son Robert
Who died 7 March 1890
aged 27 years
Also his wife
Agnes Ewing McAuley
Who died 22 Jan’y 1896
aged 70years
And his daughter Tillie who died 11th Feb 1900
aged 28 years
Also Maggie wife of Thomas McAuley
Who died 4 Dec 1911 aged 38 yrs
And Thomas  McAuley died 20 November 1927   aged 61 yrs
Also   Mary S  McAuley beloved wife of W J McAuley  jnr,  died 22 Jan 1931 aged 29 years

Also   Annie daughter of above W J McAuley
died 14 Nov 1935   aged 77 years

Also William John McAuley son of above Thomas McAuley died 28 Apr 1954.
