silchester baptism
« on: Monday 27 July 09 14:27 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone have access to the Silchester PRs and could look up the baptism of Elizabeth Broadhurst 16 June 1816 please. The IGI has her parents as Luke and Andy.

Can't see any other baptisms with Luke as the father.

thanks

It's one of those funny all-female extractions.

They may have moved on after Elizabeth's birth or only had sons. When would Luke & Andy Married?

Hampshire also sell fiche copies of their parish records for around 2 pounds a time, might be worth pursuing that

Thanks Pauline

I might look into getting the fiche.

I looked at the 1841 census and it shows Andy Broadhurst (Female) living in Silchester Common aged 60 so born sometime between 1766 and 1771 I guess and so could have married any time after c1780. 2 sons with her Benjamin aged 25 and Luke aged 19.

Hi Can anyone help me?

I have been looking at Bartletts in Silchester too.

I have
Sarah Bartlett abt 1788 who had a child in 1808 baptised at birth
She later married William Shepherd 17/08/1787 St Mary's Reading
I Have Sarah's parents as William Bartlett 1757 - wife Ann
and Williams parents as William Bartlett 1737 and Ann Bignall

Does anyone have any idea how this family fit with the family you have been talking about?

Many thanks for your help

No Sarah Bartlett baptised in Silchester, but there is one in Stratfield Saye in 1784, parents William and Ann.  I don't see a marriage for William and Ann in Hampshire - I suspect they married in Berkshire.

If there is any connection, then it may be that Thomas Bartlett was William Bartlett's brother.  You would need to trace all the children of the marriage.
