I'm slightly confused, i thought the query was about John c1853 and who he married.

If there are children in the 1881 then their birth certs will give the maiden name for Mary Ann(e). The mention of Leeds as pob for Harriet just throws more doubt on trying to pick the correct marriage from the bmd, it could have taken place in Sheffield, Leeds or somewhere completely different.

Perhaps adding the 1881 and later census details would clarify things, based on what i can pick out from the information posted i'm not entirely sure of the "who, where and when".

Hi all,

The 1881 census* also shows a Henrietta Turner born Wincobank, and this seems to be her birth registration (easier to pinpoint than Harriet)

Henrietta Turner
Sep 1876
Wortley 9c 269

Sorry for the confusion, 1881 census details below

1881 census LDS Dwelling Low Wincobank, Ecclesfield, York, England

John Senior TURNER Head Male 27 Sheffield, England  Iron Moulder
Mary A. TURNER     Wife Female 27 Sheffield, York, England
Harriet J. TURNER  Daur Female 6  Leeds, York, England  Scholar
Henrietta TURNER   Daur Female 4  Ecclesfield, York, England

This is the only mention of Leeds, the other census records state rest of children and family from Sheffield, ecclesfield and wortley.

I would definately plump for onw of the two certs then, and from there probably go for the birth cert of John Senior Turner.

Given that there is a marriage of a John Senior Turner at Nottingham in Sep qtr 1854 (7b 265) it would be interesting to see the results of the certs and see if the Nottingham event is connected.

Hi Glen in Tinsel Kni :)

My fault and I apologise. The query was re John Senior Turners marriage and as you and Tati had that in hand ,I got slightly carried away and went back a generation :-[

Cheers,
Trish

No problem Trish

I was struggling to work out if the '61 info was a typo given the names involved and then found the '81 via famsearch.

It's a pain not having the census nowadays but all my stuff is heading sideways across recent (post 1930) stuff  so it's not worth the expense.
