Castlederg, Co.Tyrone
« on: Tuesday 28 July 09 12:20 BST (UK) »
My mum was brought up in castlederg - McFerran, Upper STrabane Road.  One of her sisters died on her first birthday - born on 15/1/1945 died on 15/1/1946.  They were told that she was buried with grandparents in Rasharkin but they don't have a record of her.  How do I find out where she is buried?

Unfortunately death certificate will not list place of burial and death notices (which often don't list burial place) aren't always put in newspaper for samll children . If you scroll down the page you'll see contact details for Rasharkin- would suggest you contact them for help.

Thanks.  I have already contacted Rasharkin and they have no record of her.

Do you have any details of the grandparents that she's supposed to be buried with? Perhaps burial was in Ballymoney (Castle St.) or Ballymoney Cemetery (Rasharkin Cemetery is just a few years old)?

The grandparents grave is definitely in Rasharkin.  There is no mention of the child on the headstone or in the parish records.  I think I will look at the other grandparents - I think Belfast - and check if she is there.

Appreciate your help.
