Hi,

Could she have re-married?  FreeBMD has a marriage JunQ 1882 in Cardiff; Emily Burston and William Burford.

Hi welcome to Rootschat

An elusive lady this  :D  Have you found her in any censuses? At the moment I can't find her in the English or Welsh censuses under her maiden name before 1867 or her married name after 1871.

Hi

Nanny Jan was right, she did remarry. Here she is in the 1891 Wales census:

RG 12 piece 4397 folio 7 page 8

William Burford  head  born 1836 Worcherton  occ Mariner
Emily Burford     wife    born 1843 Pil Bristol
Alfred Busbon (!!) son  born 1874 Cardiff  *
Ceclia Stewart visitor widow born 1870 Cardiff
Lily Stewart visitor  born 1888 at sea

* This must be Alfred Burston . I wonder if Ceclia is actually the Lilla you mention?

In 1871 they are in Cardiff St. Mary, listed as "Buston" (RG10/5363, folio 118 page 36)
Address 46 George Street
Richard Calcut, 44, mariner, b. Somersetshire
Ann, wife, 42, b. Pill
Fanny M, dau, 10, b. Clifton
Alfred Buston, lodger, 23, b. Portishead,
Emily, wife, 25, b. Pill
Celia M, dau, 4, b. Cardiff
Emily, dau, 3, b. Cardiff.

In 1881 they are indexed as "Burstan", and the children are Emily A, Lilla, Maggie and Alfred.

Also in Cardiff in 1881: Ann Calcut, 47, b. Bristol, and granddaughter Emily, 16.

She is probably the Emily A. Burford d. 1922 in Cardiff aged 77
