No townland comes close - check spelling and source.

The Townland of Farnatrane in the Barony of Ballaghkeen and
Fary in the Civil Parish of Clongeen are the closest match I could find.

Hi Nicky and Dara Thank you for your help. On my aunts birth certificate it's got place of birth Faraheen she was registered in the district of coolgreany Gorey Wexford.  The birth certificate I have got is one of the new one's and has been typed. As she was the first child I though I might find out some more about her mother and father could it be the name of the house ? the other children were born in Wingfiled Hollyfort Gorey Wexford

I've had a look at the townlands in Coolgreany and none of them are even similar to Farraheen.

You could be right - it may have been a house or a farm.

Just a thought.

I notice that both Coolgreany and Hollyfort, Wingfield had RIC barracks.

Is there an RIC connection?

Hi Dara  Thank you for yor reply.  My GGrandfarher was a farm labourer The birth certificate I have is one of the new ones all typed so I wonder if there has been a mistake in the translation of the birth placeThere is no connection to the R.I.C
