Currently looking at the new ancestry 'look'.

I really, really like it. Much more of a modern feel and seemingly more functionality than the old look.

On the far right hand side of the "old search" are the words New Search, just click on them.  To get back to Old Search click on the words Old Search on the far right hand side.

Thanks Lizzie - hadn't spotted that.

The new search seems to be inferior to the old

I use the old search

The new look seems to be still there

I disagree.  The new search will turn up a lot more, if you give it a chance.  Others have found the same.

Don't judge it before you've used it for a few hours.  Using the new search, I uncovered the maiden names for 3 spouses, and found other children that couples had, which I hadn't found using the old search pages.  Others have found the same - there is another thread on this subject.

The new search page....

  • Puts a green tick against facts that you've already imported, and lists them first
  • It then lists the most likely matches
  • Further down the page it lists less likely matches
  • Even further down it lists others who may be related to the search subject

Best Wishes,  Nick.

Going back to the new look/layout, one thing I really like is that you can correct transcriptions for other things than just names.

I've just corrected Lancashire (should be Somersetshire) on one entry, now off to correct my real bugbear, Himmeig for Slimbridge. Rootschatters sorted that one out for me a couple of years ago!
