Hallam, Nottinghamshire 1700's
« on: Friday 31 July 09 09:04 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I would love to be able to break a chink in a brick wall involving my Hallam family.

Thomas Hallam married Ann Barnes in Screveton, Notts, in 1779. We think the family then lived in Lowdham for a couple of years (?Ann's family home) before moving back to Screveton. Thomas died, again in Screveton, in 1823; his tombstone gives a suggested dob of 1754.

We have done pretty well in moving forwards with the family but cannot get further back than Thomas. I'd like to hear from anyone with Hallam links in this part of the world around this time to share info and ideas.

Hi Annie,

I have no links with the Hallam family but I have found two  baptisms for a Thomas Hallam around the same date.

1). Thomas Hallam son of William and Elisabeth baptised 22/6/1756 at St Peters Nottingham.

2).  Thomas Hallam son of Edward and Ann baptised 29/3/1752 at St Peters Nottingham.  Edward Hallam was a joiner.

Hope this is of some help for you.
