James mother was Eliza Wells he and his two brothers were all illegitmate children.

James birth certificate does not state a father only his mother who is a Wells.

Thanks

James Wells is the son of Eliza Ann Wells no Father.

Eliza is on the 1881 census with her 3 sons Robert, James and John and her parents John and Elizabeth.

I have found no trace of her after this.

What made you think that the lady on the 1911 wasn't his mother then?

Her age varies on census although the index has it as 11 when it should be 4 in the 1851 census, and sometimes she's just Eliza, sometimes Eliza Ann

Need to find a marriage for her between 1881 and 1911 then, can you give a better idea of her surname on the 1911?

Because all her sons are all Wells.  Which leads me to believe they were all illegimate children this is why I don't think it is James Mother.

I have never been able to find any link to finding a marriage for her as all her sons are Wells.  I we were always led to believe that James was the dirty scroundell well I somehow think it was his Mother

Thanks Babraba

we understand she wasnt married when those lads came along, just trying to see if she married after 1881 and get a feel for the name you talk about on the 1911 census  :)

Well lets put it this way I do not know of a marriage as yet for her.

Anything is possible though.

I could always send one of you a copy of the 1911 census to see what you think it could be if that would help.

I think the name of the lady is Jennie Eliza Cornorth or Barefork.

Thanks

Could it be Bearpark?

Dec 1889  Northallerton    9d   1153
PARNABY    Henry Bearpark
Wells    Eliza Ann

It should say on the 1911 census how long she's been married
