Elizabeth Lundy of Loughinisland
« on: Friday 31 July 09 18:13 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth or Isabella Lundy born C1836 Loughinisland, County Down moved to Scotland after 1851 & married Peter McQuade on 11 February 1854 in Dalry, Ayrshire.  Her brother William born c1831 followed her & lodged with her.

Unfortunately her parents names were not known when she died in 1909 so can anyone help, please?

Does her marriage certificate list any details of her parents?

Unfortunately as it was prior to registration in 1855, it just lists her & her bridgegroom & says that both were living in the parish of Dalry.

I only know that she came from Loughinisland as it is shown on the baptsim entry for her first son William in 1855 in Dalry, Ayrshire

Unfortunately civil registration of births, deaths and Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1864 (from 184 for non-Catholic marriage).
Don't know if there'll be anything here but there's lots of Lundys listed-

Might also be worth following the family through each possible Scottish census to look for clues, other relatives living nearby, etc.

I've followed through on that line & the only person I can find is her brother William,  I've only been able to find a death certificate which might relate to him but it was issued by the governor of the Poor House in Motherwell so I will have to go to Glasgow to see if there is a Poor Law Record for him.

The death certificate shows parents as William Lundy (farmer) & Elizabeth McManus which could be possible,  I've looked at Griffiths Valuation Index & although there are a few Lundys, no William Lundy is listed.  Are there any other records which might list a farmer in Loughinisland?

Hi,

I have just obtained a couple of copies poor records from the Mitchell Library. The email is below. The info I received confirmed place of birth of my ancestor!

Good luck!
