Ancoats (Manchester) Electoral Register - 1912 onwards
« on: Friday 31 July 09 19:36 BST (UK) »
Hello there,

Please can someone check whether a Henry Newbury was living at this address (1912) onwards. He is not born on the 1911 Census but I know he existed as a child of James and Jane (Mary) Newbury:

68 Cobden Street, Ancoats, Manchester and/or
49 Bradford Road, Ancoats, Manchester (around 1926).

Also can someone please check who else lived at the following address 38 Love Lane around 1926 other than Arthur Hughes to confirm Arthur's parents. If so....anyone else registered same address?

This is to confirm/find ANY trace of relatives.

Thanks in (hopeful) anticipation.

Davidjnr

Hi David

Re Henry Newbury - I don't think Henry will appear on an electoral register until old enough to vote, so he won't show up until the 1930s when he becomes 21.

Maybe you have already seen father James' 'pension record' for WW1 on Ancestry?  Not much info on the family, but it does confirm the 68 Cobden St address for 1914, plus next of kin Mary (wife).

Good luck

Actually, correction on the Pension Record there; the house number given is 63, not 68 Cobden St

Hi all,

I just can't seem to find these records? Can anyone help me?

Do we also know where I can find WW2 service records?

You will not find these electoral rolls online.
Electoral rolls were not compiled in the war years. [from late 1914 to late 1918]
They are available at Manchester Central Library, but as you do not indicate where you are, this may not be of any use to you.
Someone may be able to look for you.

If you do not already have Henry Newbury's birth cert. it might be an idea to acquire it, and then you will have an address, and also mother's maiden name. The latter will help you find siblings. Mother's maiden name is included in birth records after Sept. 1911.

The only Henry Newbury I can find in M/c was  b. June 1891 ref. M/c 8d 218

There is a marriage for James Newbury and Jane Lynch June 1890 M/c  ref.  8d365

Both in Free BMD

I am aware the electoral rolls are not online, I was referring to tracing the Pension Record for James Newbury. Can't find it anywhere...
