The Curragh 1911 Census
« on: Sunday 02 August 09 20:16 BST (UK) »
Hi, Can anyone help please. The 1911 census was taken two weeks before my Grandparent got married in Dublin. My Grandmother was a servant in Dublin and I have her on the census, but my Grandfather was a British soldier stationed at the Curragh army camp. Would anyone know if the census would have been taken in the camp? as I cannot find any mention of it. Also I cannot find him on the British 1911 stationed overseas  either.
Many Thanks.
Pete

Is Curragh Camp not in Co. Kildare?

If so 1911 Kildare's not online yet.

Hi Aghadowey. Thank you for that. Presumption on my part that it came under Dublin as they married there. Geography not my strong point.
Many thanks.

Army barracks were included in the census, but the forms include a little bit less information than the usual forms. Sometimes the names can be listed as just initials.

see for example this page for Renmore Barracks, Galway : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/reels/nai002378129/
