Looking for help with marriage date, location please for:

Martin / Patrick Devaney & Helen Reddy.  Married before 1845.

Living in Sligo Ireland in 1845, but no marriage record that I can find.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages began in Ireland in 1864 (other marriages from 1845) so before those dates you need to search for church records (if they exist).

Many thanks have searched locally - records go back to 1842, and no joy, just thought they may have been married in scotland or england somewhere....long shot...but Im running out of options!!

I had a look through the newspapers from 1840 in case there was an announcement.There are a few marriage for people from Sligo,who married all over the place but yours isn't there.Thats not much help is it

No it doesn't necessarily mean that,not everyone could afford or didn't bother to put notification in a paper.
