Postcard in German (possibly) needs deciphering

I struggle to read German handwriting, but if it says "Berge" it's mountains, if it's "Burgen" it's castles.

I'm pretty sure it's "Berge" - but apart from that I'm quite knocked out by Peonie's brilliant reading above.  Impressive work!

I'm glad this type of handwriting (wasn't it called "Sutterlin-schrift" or some such thing?) seems to have died out in Germany nowadays.  It was in our grammar books at school in the 1940s, but we never had to study it, thank goodness!

Never thought about "Berge", didn't think there are any up there (tongue-in-cheek). I learnt Sütterlin one year at school and now it's my way of giving back to the chatters, I got plenty of help in other areas.

It's at the top of the Europe Board. You can write ae, oe, ue and use spellcheck - change to
German and it will give you the correct Umlaut. It's the easiest way.

I'll try that whenever umlauts crop up again.  I suppose something similar will work for French (etc) accents & cedillas - sounds like fun !
