Hi all

I am trying to trace a marriage sometime between 1857 - 1861.

William Chase born in Kings Somborne, Hampshire, England about 1834.  He married Sarah ?, possibly Sarah Ann ?, born Dublin about 1841. 

They are shown as married on the 1861 Scottish Census in Hamilton, Larnarkshire where he was serving as a farrier in the Army Cavalry, possibly the 3rd or 4th Hussars.  I believe the 3rd Hussars were also in Newbridge, County Kildare, but as she was born in Dublin that seems the most likely place to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages began 1864 and other marriages from 1845. You can search the index (free) -

Any children born in Scotland? Scottish birth certificates usually list parents' names as well as date and place of marriage.

Not used to working with Irish ancestors, so was unsure where to go.

I found a William Chase married in 1859 Dublin South Vol 5 Pg 260.  No spouse mentioned but I think I have found 2 candidates for his wife.

Sarah Hopkins or Sarah Anne McDonald.  Both are 1859 Dublin South, same Vol, same page.
