Can anyone help me trace a Judith Brooks bapt 1800/3 at Greys Oxford? What was the Parish church called? Any help about the area would be great.

Hi

Can you tell me a bit more - where did this info come from? is it Greys Oxfordshire - in which case it could be the parish of Rotherfield Greys or is it the city of Oxford? - any more clues?

I tried the registers for Rotherfield Greys - but the baptism wasn't there, but some people from there had baptisms done at the bigger church nearby at Henley

Henley baptisms 1803 April 3rd
Judith dau of John & Ann Brooks (born March 24th)

unfortunatly the registers did not give the mothers maiden name on this entry - they do on most of the other baptisms at this time - I thought it was strange so I fished around a bit and found a burial at Rotherfield Greys
1803 April 24th Ann wife of John Brooks

Then from the OFHS index of marriages 22nd October 1802 at Watlington
John Brooks wid of Henley to Ann Anderson
and finally from Rotherfield Greys again
1803 August 27th marriage
John Brooks widower of Henley to Ann Cox spinster - by lic

so it looks as if John didn't watse much time in finding a step-mum for Judith

Hope it helps
