Hi Peter,

That's great, "Oh what a tangled web ......." You've come up with the goods yet again!

Who would have thought it, the reason I asked in the first place was because of the gap between the ages of the first 2 children in the 1871 census (9 years). I was convinced there must be some other children but I had no idea that James had married twice.

Hi Peter,

I've just looked back through my notes and had noted the James Snape Sarah Gleave marriage 1852 but also noted the age of  Sarah Ann 1848 and was reluctant to proceed (I know that having children out of wedlock was not out of the question and with a wife and daughter both called Sarah....) Only problem being Sarah Ann was not Sarah Gleaves daughter. Stranger than fiction!
