mccarthy family
« on: Wednesday 12 August 09 05:30 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone
I am researching my family history and have hit a brick wall
my great grandmother mary bridget mccarthy came to australia in 1885,
her parents michael mccarthy and bridget (nee power), believe they lived in main street dungarvan possibly with
relatives- powers
trying to get records mary bridget mccarthy bap 04/02/1863
mary mccarthy bap03/01/1851 - this mary passed away young but do not know when
???brothers could be a jeremiah
believe the family were fisherman but michael could have been a carpenter
parents must have passed away when mary was young, as the story goes, brothers put her in a convent and she was sent to australia to join the sisters of mercy at all hallows in brisbane and she was accompanied by Sister Julius? would also like to know of convents in the area which may have records

thanks
