Joseph ARESTI was a lithographer, born Bloomsbury, Middlesex in 1809. At Olveston in Gloucestershire in 1840 he married Emma SARJEANT. They had three known children, Louisa Clara born 1841, Julia Emma born 1843, and Rosannah born 1845. The three girls were all baptised at Machen, Monmouth, Wales on 17 Sep 1848, which is where Emma's mother and brothers were living.
Can't find Emma and Joseph in 1841, but have found them in Hammersmith in 1851.
In November 1857 Mr and Mrs, and the three Misses ARESTI arrived in Melbourne on the Neptunes Favourite.
Have found a couple of mentions about Joseph after that date, but nothing to confirm if they stayed in Melbourne. There is a 50 year old Mr ARESTI leaving Melbourne on the Sussex in Mar 1866 bound for London, which could be him. Age fits. If it was him did he come back. What happened to his wife and daughters.
Two of Emma's younger brothers Isaac and Henry SARJEANT both came to New Zealand about 1860, as neither appear in the 1861 census. No sign of Emma coming to NZ yet.
Hoping someone else has come across these names somewhere and can shed some light on what happened to them.
