Estate papers - i am assuming this is a will...

Mortgage Bond - 

Insolvent Liquidation and distribution - Is this bankrupcy papers ?

I think i have figured out 2 / 3 of the papers,  -  but wondering what a Mortgage Bond  papers would include,  would if give any details of the family etc...it is in the wifes name - does that mean the husband is deceased ?

Is it worth getting hold of these papers  ?

Mortgage papers are the same as todays.

It will give you a description of the property e.g a certain piece of ground situated in ............,

Lot number ..... measuring .... sq ft.

And the name of the person taking the mortgage bond.

A woman could also own property if she had the money

I am trying to find out more about my FLISHERS and BYLEVELDT / BYREVELDT / REYVELDT in Sth Africa,   i have a bit of in on the FLISHERS and now looking into his wife - Magdalena.  There seems to be a mortgage bond on SA National Archives,    at Cape Town Archives Repository and was wondering if this may give a clue to her side of the family..she is my grgrgr grandmother....  am really intrigued at the moment with her side....

What do you know about Magdalena so far? When did she die, husband's name, Parents names?

If you can wait until next week (hopefully I can get to the archives) I'll try to look up the

Hi Ouma, 

WOW so generous of you thanks so much,  well we dont know a whole lot,  I have been given some info,  and trying to confirm things and dig deeper....always deeper.....i know that

Magdalena married George ( ??Thomas)  FLISHER in 1881 26/10 at -  St John the Evangelist Church Capetown,  i havefound a few references to this church with the family,  they had children  Mary Ann Magdalena (my gr grandmother ) abt 1882 ?,  William Henry Byreveldt 1884,  Frances Magdalena  1885 and Josephine Katheline  1886,  I have been given all this info so have no concrete proof....Only thing i have managed to get is Mary Ann's marriage certificate from 1901 in Capetown (to Simon MUNRO)  and her father signed to give permission for her to marry - so no age is on there for her....

I am guessing ??  that the Byreveldt name is Dutch,   Sorry but that is all the info i have .......

Jumping the gun a bit, as I know that Ouma will turn up all the info you need when she visits the Archives, I used to know a van Ryneveld family, living near Durban, in what was then Natal, during the 1970's - 1980's.

You could bear in mind, that as the decades passed, possibly your rellie's surname changed somewhat?
