Thank you all so much I don't know what I would have done without you pointing me in the right direction. I thought of most ways to spell it but not that one.

Once again thank you all very much

Kind Regards

Clare

A tip -  I put in the Christian name and approx d-o-b only, no surname at all, then look down the list of possibles to see if they're is anything that looks likely!

( I guess the name was pronounced Gifkins with a 'g' as in 'giraffe', rather than a 'g' as in  'gorilla', thus easily changeable to a 'j')
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I am descended from this family. Henry Gifkins was my mother's grandfather

Hello Clare,
I have managed to put together a lot of information on the Gifkins family. Members of the same generation used different spellings. The family originally come from Oxfordshire - Chalgrove and Sydenham. I have got back to Thomas Gifkines in Sydenham in the early 1700s. William Patrick (who used Jefkins") who lived in Folkestone had 11 children and his widow re-married. If you want all the details from my tree please contact me on jerryturner1@hotmail.com
