Frederick PRINZ (1840-?)
« on: Monday 17 August 09 14:58 BST (UK) »
I have traced my family back to Frederick Prinz, born abt 1840 (assumed in Germany) and who is simply listed on Ancestry.co.uk records as 'Grumbach Nat British Subject, Prussia'.

I cannot find any information on him regarding BMD records, or any further family history further back.

Hi both,

I suppose this is the marriage - it would tell you his father's name:

Frederick Pring - Harriet Sarah Bradford
Mar 1863 Newington 1d 215

Not helping much with your research but I found this snippet in the London Gazette

I am trying to trace back further beyond Frederick Prinz (abt 1840-1915) which is where I am now stuck.

Apologies for the double post by the way.

do you mean you had all the above?
its just you said "I cannot find any information on him regarding BMD records"
hence we have looked for death and marriage, as will be no record for birth

Hi

I don't know how close you are to an LDS centre, but there are films of church records for Grumbach, Germany available to view:

Apologies for not fully clarifying on the first post. I did have some of the information on his family, all of which I have now posted, but did not do this originally.

I am stuck with looking to trace back the family further rather than his siblings, so I would need a birth record for him and any other records (Immigration etc).

I also do not understand fully the classification of 'Grumbach Nat British Subject, Prussia' if anyone has any information on this.

I have printed off a copy of the relevant family hsitory library catalogue items required and found a list of LDS centres nearby and will look to see where is easiest to get to and try to arrange a visit there soon.
