That's a pretty bad transcription. You'll have to pay your 30 credits and look at the original.

I thought that originally but I then found there is a seperate record which lists:

Harriet S Prinz (Frederick's Wife)
Beatrice Robbins (Frederick's Daughter)
George W Robbins (Beatrice's Husband)
Francis F Robbins (child of Beatrice & George)

Keen, Prinz, Printz, Melhuish, King, Croxford, Bedding,

Just for completeness sake, Frederick was already in England in 1861 - in the same household as his wife-to-be, apparently

I meant that the transcription Greenback is dreadful, not in the least Germanic.

Tati's discovery is interesting. Did he understand what a British subject was? Does the original record really state that?

I did think too that 'Greenback' wasn't a very good effort!

Yes, well this is what I have for 'where born' on each of the census's:

1861: Deu British Subject

*1871: Cannot find census record *

1881: Grumboch-Nat British Subject, Preußen

1891: Guimhach, Germany

1901: Prussia German Subject
