Thanks for your reply. I am new to this but don't seem to have had a personal message with your email address, I attach photos anyway.
I apologize for the quality of the portraits but I have isolated them from a group shot I took at our Christmas party in 1959 on a slide. (transparency) I may have some more when I can find them.
I took the aerial view of the village in 1992 with the Rectory and Church in the foreground. Their new house is marked on both photos with a red arrow opposite the farm where my parents lived. The little school where Cora taught is marked with a yellow arrow - so they didn't move far!

Hello and thank you for your last email with your PM. I sent a couple of emails to a Watermelon on the 8th & 9th but as yet have heard nothing in reply which seems odd in view of your usual prompt returns. Could you please acknowledge receipt or otherwise in which case I will try again.

Mrs Young was the Headmistress of Nunburnholme school .

She was a lovely lady and taught me from the age of 7.

I have 3 paintings which she gave me. One oil painting and 2 watercolour which I treasure.

My husband was in the RAF., and she kept in touch with me for years, when we were in Singapore and Germany.

I still think of her, even now at 92 !!  Peggy Nunn (Nee Hudson)

Hello Peggy and welcome to Rootschat.

I have no connection at all to Albert and Cora, I was just reading these messages out of interest and unfortunately it seems it is sometime since any of the original posters have been on Rootschat.  Anyway with so much more available online these days I have found Cora was born in 1888 in Middlesborough and baptised Carola Isabel Appleyard.  She married Albert Young in 1915 and died in 1978. She is buried in Nunburnholme along with Albert who died in 1963.

Just posting in case anyone related pops back on to Rootschat.

Thank you for sharing your memories Peggy.

All the best,

Pinetree

Apologies for the long delay in response.  My father passed away in November 2013 so we didnt make our journey to The Rectory in Nunburnholme after all.  I organised a headstone for his beloved grandfather John Young in York stone which was placed in the local churchyard the same year as this was one of his dying wishes.  One day I hope to venture to Nunburnholme and thank you all for your messages and photos.

Hello Photoman52.

Thankyou for posting photo of Nunburnholme.

I could see my house on your photo. It was lovely to see where Mrs Young lived, and to see my Primary School.

It brought back lovely memories !

Regards. Peggy Nunn.
